This sector contains prescribing intelligence on infant and paediatric specialist foods and nutrition.

Infant nutrition represents over three-quarters of the prescription items for this sector and covers specialist infant formula feeds including amino acid based formula (AAF), extensively hydrolysed formulas (eHF), lactose free or low lactose formulas, as well as anti-reflux formulas and nutrition for pre-term babies.

Paediatric liquid oral nutritional supplements (ONS) are the second largest category in this sector, representing 10% of prescription items.

Infant and paediatric specialist foods include ketogenic diet foods and high energy formulas, as well as foods for patients with Phenylketonuria (PKU), Homocystinuria (HCU) and maple syrup urine disease (MSUD).
